At this point, Theodore suddenly dropped his leg, slapped his hands on the table, and leaned forward.

“But if you team up with me, we’ll definitely succeed!”

Claudine frowned.

She couldn’t help but think that Theodore was a bit crazy.

Claudine even started to wonder if she shouldn’t have come to Theodore at all.

At this moment, Theodore had no idea that, in Claudine’s mind, he’d already been classified as an idiot.

He was determined to make Claudine completely give up on Damian today.

“Do you want to know about Damian and Audrey’s past?”

Before Claudine could answer, Theodore continued on his own.

“I knew you’d want to know.

Back then, Damian had just graduated from college. My uncle treated his only son like a treasure and put him straight into the Barrette Group’s management.

But no one expected that as soon as Damian became general manager, he’d pull a big stunt.”

At this point, Theodore put on a mysterious air and beckoned Claudine closer.

“He got Audrey pregnant!”

Claudine was genuinely surprised.

She never imagined Damian had ever been so impulsive.

“You can probably guess what happened next.

Damian faced the pressure of the entire Barrette family, insisting on marrying Audrey. He even declared that if he couldn’t marry her, he’d leave the Barrette Group.

At the time, he’d already launched the Barrette Group’s artificial intelligence project. If he’d really left with the project, it would have been a huge blow to the company.

Damian used that project to secure the chance to marry Audrey.

Tell me, isn’t Damian a hopeless romantic?”

Theodore was saying all this on purpose.

He wanted Claudine to give up on Damian completely, so he could feel safe working with her.

But Claudine’s reaction was not at all what he expected.

Claudine set down her coffee cup, her delicate face showing no trace of sadness.

“If he loved Audrey so much, why did they end up divorced?”

Theodore scratched the back of his head.

That, he really didn’t know.

Claudine could more or less guess the reason.

Damian’s youthful love for Audrey was real, but after marriage, reality wore down his edges, and he needed a partner with a good family background-that was also true!

As for what Audrey said about Damian respecting her dreams and letting her chase them, that was just Audrey lying to herself.

And she was the unlucky one-Damian’s chosen partner for a marriage alliance.

Barrette Group building.

Damian was in his office, working through documents.

Lindsay knocked and entered.

“Mr. Barrette, Theodore met with Mrs. Barrette at Violette Café.”

Damian paused with his pen, looking up at Lindsay.

“What did they talk about?”

Lindsay shook her head.

“Mrs. Barrette and Mr. Theodore were in the private room, but I don’t know what they talked about.

However, judging by their expressions when they came out, it seemed like the conversation went well.”

Lindsay handed over the photos.

Claudine was wearing a white coat that accentuated her slender figure. Her face was delicate and petite, her makeup fresh and elegant.

A faint smile hung on her lips, her eyes curved gently.

She looked nothing like the cold and indifferent person she was when she was with him.

Lindsay stood to the side and spoke.

“The board meeting is coming up soon. Mrs. Barrette meeting Mr. Theodore at this time, could it be…?”

Lindsay didn’t dare to finish her sentence.

Everyone in the Barrette Group knew that Damian and Theodore were like water and fire. At this moment, no matter what Claudine and Theodore discussed, if word got out, it would be a loud slap in Damian’s face.

Damian tossed the tablet aside.

He could more or less guess what Claudine wanted from Theodore.

If it had been in the past, he would never have believed that Claudine would seek out Theodore for cooperation just to go against him.

But now, he knew Claudine was capable of it!

Damian’s slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk.

After a short while, Damian spoke.

“Go find out what Clayton has done.”

Lindsay was a bit puzzled. Why bring up Mrs. Barrette’s family at this moment?

Damian continued.

“Or rather, investigate what Clayton has done to his son.”

Claudine had said yesterday that he was the one who made the first move against her brother.

He hadn’t had time to think it through in the heat of the moment, but now it seemed Clayton had gone too far.

Lindsay didn’t understand Damian’s intentions, but she only needed to follow his orders.

“Alright, Vice President!”

Lindsay was about to leave when Damian called her back.

“Also, check Professor Hutchinson’s schedule. If he’s returned to the country, let me know immediately.”

“Yes, Mr. Barrette!”

Soon, Damian was left alone in the office.
