This time, the phone was turned off.

Claudine’s sense of unease grew stronger and stronger.

She knew her brother’s temperament best-he always liked to shoulder everything himself.

He had been like that as a child, and he was still the same now.

Worried, Claudine called her brother’s secretary.

“Karina, what’s going on with my

brother?”

On the other end, Karina Olson glanced at the man surrounded by the crowd and decided to tell the truth.

“There was an accident at one of our company’s developments. Someone fell from the scaffolding and died.

Now the victim’s family is refusing compensation, and the situation is escalating. It’s getting out of hand.”

Claudine listened to the whole story.

Accidents at construction sites happened every year, but for the family to refuse compensation and just want to make a scene, it was definitely not a simple accident.

Her brother calling her at this time meant it must have something to do with her.

Claudine’s grip on the steering wheel tightened, her delicate fingers turning pale.

She hadn’t been to Reedport in a long time, so it was impossible for anyone to be targeting her.

Besides, in all of Reedport, who would dare go against the Hogan family now?

The only answer was that Damian was behind this!

Of course, that man would never let her go so easily!

She just hadn’t expected him to be so shameless!

After hanging up, Claudine turned her car around and drove off quickly.

She drove straight back to Willow Creek Villas and took a golf club out of the trunk.

She went to Audrey’s place.

A group of people followed behind her.

“Smash it!”

At this moment, Audrey was resting in her room.

She heard noises outside the door and thought it was just her imagination, until the front door opened and a crowd of people flooded into the living room, making her suddenly realize something was happening.

“Who are you people? Get out of here! Otherwise, I’m calling the police!”

“The police?”

Claudine stepped out from among the crowd.

“Great. I was just thinking of asking the police myself whether someone moving into my property without my consent counts as theft!”

After speaking, Claudine glanced around the house, and when her eyes landed on the Lord of Ashes Statue, a self- mocking smile curled at her lips.

As expected, Damian had bought the sculpture at a high price as a gift for Audrey.

Claudine walked into the living room, looking at the priceless collection displayed there, and felt that the five years she had devoted to Damian were nothing but a complete joke.

“What are you trying to do!”

Audrey blocked Claudine’s way.

She guarded the collectibles on the display cabinet fiercely, glaring at Claudine with vigilance.

“These are all mine, don’t even think about touching them!”

Claudine looked at Audrey in front of her and suddenly felt utterly bored.

Damian threatened her with her brother, and if she retaliated now using Audrey, what difference would there be be- tween her and Damian?

She really didn’t want to waste her energy on such pointless matters.

Just as Claudine was about to speak, a small figure suddenly rushed out from the bedroom.

Darlene ran up to Claudine, her face puffed up with anger as she glared at her.

“You’re a bad person! I won’t let you bully my mom!”

Claudine looked down at the child she had raised for five years, who now stared at her as if she were an enemy.

“I’m going to tell Dad, and he’ll never talk to you again!”

Darlene thought that as long as she mentioned her father, Claudine would surely be afraid.

She didn’t understand the things between adults; she only knew this was her mother’s home, and Claudine had brought a bunch of bad people in.

She was determined to protect her mom!

“Darla, come to Mommy!”

Audrey hugged Darlene tightly.

Mother and daughter clung to each other, as if Claudine were a heinous criminal.

“Fine, then tell your dad!”

Claudine took out her phone and dialed a number.

The call was quickly answered, and Damian’s face appeared on the video.

The moment he saw Claudine calling, Damian felt a surge of confidence, as if everything was under his control.

He had already contacted Clayton earlier, and presumably, he had convinced his daughter.

Once the call connected, he adjusted his tie and spoke first.

“Have you come to your senses?”

Claudine looked at the man on the phone with disgust.

Seeing his reaction, she knew her suspicions were correct.

It was his actions that had caused her brother to get into trouble.

Claudine didn’t even want to look at Damian for another second.

She turned the camera to focus on Audrey and her daughter.

Before Claudine could speak, Darlene shouted.
