Chapter 72.

And then he just openly took away what she had spent two months working hard on.

Jovana was so angry her shoulders were shaking, and she hurried to catch up.

After Zachary finished talking with the person on the other end of the phone, he hung up looking really pleased.

I turned around and ran right into Jovana. My heart skipped a beat and cold sweat broke out on my back.

His brows were all scrunched up, and he totally lost that flattering tone from before, “Jovana? What are you doing here?”

Jovana noticed the guilty look that flashed across his face and let out a sarcastic laugh,”What a coincidence, Mr. Crosier is at the hospital too. Are you here with someone?”

Hearing that, Zachary’s face changed right away.

But who did she, Jovana, think she was? Did she really deserve to turn around and mess with him?

He looked her up and down, straightened the cuff of his expensive suit, and sneered, “My personal business doesn’t need you to worry about it. Ms. Atherton, you’d better worry about yourself.”

“I heard Armando was going to take you off the Marketing Department manager job?”

Hit where it hurt, Jovana’s breath seemed to stop for a moment.

Zachary saw it, put his phone in his pocket, and sneered, “Nine years of relationship, huh? So what. You got bullied, and not only did he ignore you, he even took away your manager job. If you ask me, you just overestimated yourself. You deserved it.”

“Didn’t even know your own worth, had no family background, just a nobody. If it wasn’t for Armando back then, you think you could’ve become the manager of the Marketing Department? Ridiculous. Had nothing, but still acted tough and went against me.”

Zachary looked down at her with disdain, the corners of his mouth curling in contempt.

“Now Armando didn’t care about you anymore, so what did you have to go against me with? What did you have that made you think you could go against me?”

“With that little bit your family had? Don’t embarrass yourself.”

Every word hit where it hurt. It was sarcasm, and also a threat.

Jovana’s eyes were a bit fiercely red.

Proud Jovana, decisive Jovana, now couldn’t say a word after being hurt by that sharp comment.

Because Armando didn’t give her enough confidence.

He was the one who personally removed her from her position.

He also didn’t stand up for her after she was bullied by Zachary

He personally gave Zachary the guts to act cocky.

She was Armando’s choice after weighing the pros and cons, and she was secondary.

At one point, she suddenly thought about how, just now in the hospital room, Juliette just pretended to be upset in front of Armando, and he settled things with the police and the company for her, and even planned a new job for her.

And even when she begged him like that, he just brushed her off: Zachary was on the board, he couldn’t act rashly.

Jovana’s eyes couldn’t help turning red, and it felt like there was a stone pressing on her chest, hurting so much she couldn’t catch her breath.

Zachary glanced at her with disdain and let out a little snort.

People like this with no background or family weren’t even worth his time.

It was a buzzkill.

He walked over and patted her on the shoulder with a half-smile, “When you’re done with the job, just behave yourself. Stop doing those stupid things you think are smart. Even if you don’t think about yourself, think about your family…”

That was a blatant warning, like trampling on someone’s dignity.

Facing her, Zachary didn’t even bother to pretend anymore. Anyway, she was just something Armando

didn’t want.

There was an icy coldness in Jovana’s eyes.

Zachary really looked down on Jovana and even felt embarrassed just being around her.

He frowned, brushed his sleeve, checked the time, and before leaving, said to her, “Jovana, be smart.”

Suddenly, a loud slap landed on his face.

Zachary froze for half a second, his old face instantly turning red with anger. He stared at this clueless person in front of him. This was already the second time she had slapped him. already the second time she had slapped him.

“Jovana, are you F**King tired of living or what-!”

Before he finished speaking.

Jovana raised her hand and slapped again, hitting even harder.

She looked at him with a blank face, her eyes as cold as could be, like she was looking at a pile of trash.
