Chapter 44.Â
But when I faced Harland, I was still nervous.Â
This man had a natural coldness that was intimidating, but you just couldn’t help wanting to get donerÂ
This feeling was killing me.Â
Juliette bit her lip, gave a slight smile, and handed over the glass with her slender fingers.Â
“Mr. Frasier, I’d heard a lot about what you did in the financial industry in Los Angeles. Seeing you in person was way better than just hearing about you. Here’s a toast to you.”Â
When it came to handling men, Juliette was really good at it.Â
A gentle, sweet voice, heartfelt admiration, careful, cat-like movements…Â
Every frown and every smile were like an invisible hook.Â
No man could resist, and Armando was an example.Â
Jovana’s heart skipped a beat and she couldn’t help looking at Harland.Â
The man lifted his cold eyelids and glanced expressionlessly at Juliette, who was smiling sweetly in front of him. There was something unfathomable in his dark eyes.Â
An unspoken sexual tension.Â
Juliette’s heart rippled, and her eyelashes fluttered a little. Gotta say, this guy was amazing in every way, just as good as Armando.Â
She bit her lower lip and said softly, “Mr. Frasier?”Â
Jovana squeezed the fork in her hand hard and lowered her eyes to hide the deep darkness in them.Â
The man’s eyes narrowed a bit, “I don’t drink, thanks.”Â
Juliette and Jovana both froze for a moment.Â
“Also,” Harland’s voice took on a cold, oppressive tone,”Ms. Palmer, work isn’t acting. You’d better put that energy into your job.”Â
As soon as the words were spoken, Juliette’s face looked like it was covered in ash, all gray and lifeless, really awful.Â
I totally lost face!Â
Harland was clearly saying she was just a phony.Â
He really didn’t give her any face?Â
He wasn’t like this when he just talked to Jovana, didn’t leave any room for others!Â
Juliette pressed her lips tightly together, but still had to agree against her will, “Mr. Frasier is right, I gotÂ
it…”Â
Jovana pressed her lips to keep from laughing.Â
I have to say, seeing her like that, she was pretty happy!Â

MenuÂ
She looked up and just met Harland’s eyes. Her heart skipped a beat and she hurriedly looked away.Â
Juliette noticed the little looks they gave each other, especially Jovana. That smile on her face was really something.Â
Juliette’s face turned red and pale, and she gripped the wine-filled glass tightly.Â
A few seconds later.Â
She forced a smile and walked toward Jovana, “Ms. Atherton, you’ve taken good care of me these days, put up with a lot of my little mistakes, and let me off the hook many times. I’d like to toast you.”Â
As she spoke, she picked up the wine decanter from the table, grabbed another glass, and poured Jovana aÂ
drink.Â
Tolerance?Â
Sounds nice, but actually it just meant mocking her for not daring to speak up. Even though she knew. about her and Armando, she still had to put up with it.Â
This glass of wine was really full of humiliation.Â
Jovana’s face turned cold.Â
She really underestimated Juliette’s bottom line!Â
Tatiana, who didn’t know what was going on, smiled and chimed in, “Ms. Palmer was so thoughtful. Don’t ever let down Ms. Atherton’s guidance.”Â
Juliette smiled, a little dimple showing at the corner of her mouth,”Of course. Ms. Atherton was really kind, I definitely wouldn’t let her down!”Â
She looked at Jovana again and tilted her head slyly: of course she wouldn’t “let her down,” she wanted to take everything from her, leave her with nothing for the rest of her life, no money, no love.Â
Harland glanced at the always-silent Jovana, frowned a little, and his deep eyes were like a deep pool,Â
dark and still.Â
“You were really thoughtful too.”Â
Jovana got up and took the wine glass from Juliette, still looking gentle and calm, her eyes light.Â
It was obvious they were soft and easy to push around.Â
Juliette sneered.Â
Sure enough, just as she expected, Jovana, that spineless coward, just kept her head down and took it.Â
She lookedÂ
away, drank her wine, then walked gracefully back to her seat and waited there calmly.Â
Wasn’t Jovana supposed to be aloof? Didn’t she care about her image?Â
She wanted to see how she would end up after drinking that wine with the laxative in it.Â
Whenever Juliette thought about the scene where Jovana embarrassed herself, she felt happy.Â
However, after a minute, Jovana still looked cheerful, chatting with Tatiana and Harland, not affected atÂ
all.Â
