Chapter 4
Victor Ramirez appeared before me in a rush, his eyes filled with heartache as he looked at me.
He carefully wiped me down with his ten-thousand-dollar suit, showing no disgust at all.
He took me to the hospital. Throughout the treatment, I didn’t speak a word to him, while he anxiously kept asking questions.
I lay in the hospital bed resting with my eyes closed. He thoughtfully had the family nutritionist prepare meals and deliver them overnight, then arranged for a specialized medical team to examine me.
The nurse leaving the room gazed at me with envy, nearly complimenting my good fortune to my face.
I calmly took out my phone. “Hello, is this 911? I’d like to report-”
A sudden gust of wind snatched the phone from my hand, ending the call violently.
I looked up at Victor Ramirez.
He pressed his lips together. “Honey, Deborah’s home was burglarized and unsafe. Since you’ve been staying at the hospital with your father, I agreed to let her parents stay at our place temporarily.
“As for this ‘son-in-law’ nonsense-absolutely not true. I told Deborah long ago my wife will only ever be you, Jessi- ca. She’s just a casual fling. My heart belongs to you! I’ll come home! Deborah was wrong, I’ll make her apologize. But calling the police? That’s unnecessary.”
His words defended Deborah at every turn. My fists clenched until knuckles whitened. A bitter laugh escaped me. “Victor Ramirez, that was our home. Yet you let strangers waltz in. What am I to you? Since you care so much about her, let’s divorce. I’ll make room for you both.”
When Deborah hit my father with her car, he told me to endure. To forgive.
When her parents humiliated me, he still told me to endure. To forgive!
Panicked, he rushed to grab my hand. “No divorce! I love you too much! She’s just a plaything-”
Bang! The door slammed open, cutting him off.
Seeing me, Deborah rushed forward and knelt. “Jessica! Blame me, not my parents! Please!”
Victor immediately helped her up.
“Deborah, what are you doing? Don’t worry, nobody will trouble your parents while I’m here!”
Deborah threw her arms around Victor, shooting me a look full of provocation.

Chapter 4
Before leaving, she claimed emotional instability, demanding Victor escort her home.
Her endless provocations finally shattered me. I stopped Victor at the door.

Tears welling in bloodshot eyes, I glared with pure hatred. Through gritted teeth, I screamed, “Victor Ramirez! I said I want a divorce!”
Victor stood frozen, exhaustion in his eyes but no concern. He thought this was another empty threat like before. “Darling, Deborah’s still young. She’s fragile-ignore her words and actions. Let me take her home. I’ll come back lat-
er.”
After Victor left, my head dropped weakly. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
